I dropped out of college during the Great Financial Crisis after my mom lost everything in the mortgage collapse. We were living off savings in a tiny apartment, and I worked part-time at a smoothie bar in the local gym. I vividly remember waiting in line for food stamps, and doing whatever it took to get by. That’s the moment I decided I’d never end up there again, and started chasing leverage.

When I got back into college, I became a personal trainer, and started a fitness blog (jcdfitness.com). Then I taught myself SEO, email marketing, and copywriting from scratch. Then I built it into a six-figure coaching business from my dorm room. My writing got picked up by Men’s Health, AskMen, Forbes, CNN, Huffington Post, and T-Nation along the way. That site became my real-world MBA in marketing and sales.

Over time I realized I enjoyed the marketing more than the coaching itself. So in 2021 I pivoted to “marketing guy” and since then I’ve helped creators, consultants, and info brands scale through better offers, and airtight sales funnels.
